When Is Memorial Day 2027?
Memorial Day 2027 is Monday 31 May. Federal law sets the holiday as the last Monday in May, so the date can land on any of the seven days from 25 to 31 May. In 2027 it takes the final slot. The rule has applied since the Uniform Monday Holiday Act took effect in 1971, replacing the original fixed date of 30 May.
Because the holiday always lands on a Monday, it never triggers a substitute day. The 2027 US calendar does carry four substitute dates — 18 June, 5 July, 24 December and 31 December — but none belongs to Memorial Day. The United States holiday hub collects every US year page in one place.
Memorial Day Weekend 2027: 29 to 31 May
The break runs from Saturday 29 May to Monday 31 May: three days off with no leave booked. It is the fourth of nine three-day weekends in the US 2027 calendar, as our US long weekends 2027 listing shows. All nine last exactly three days; none stretches to four.
The wait makes the date worth planning around. Washington’s Birthday ends on 15 February, and the next long weekend does not arrive until 29 May — 103 days later, the longest gap between three-day breaks in 2027. How Memorial Day 2027 Compares With 2026
In 2026 the holiday falls on Monday 25 May, the earliest date the last-Monday rule allows; Memorial Day 2027 lands six days later, on 31 May, the latest. Neither year needs a substitute day, so the only change is where the weekend sits. The US 2026 holiday calendar lists 25 May as a National holiday.
The shift changes what follows. In 2027, 19 June is a Saturday, so Juneteenth is observed on Friday 18 June and adds another three-day break just 18 days after Memorial Day. In 2026, 19 June is a Friday, so Juneteenth gives a single day off rather than a long weekend.
US Public Holidays 2027 Beyond Memorial Day

Memorial Day is one of the eleven, alongside New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Washington’s Birthday, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Two November entries are easy to mix up. Veterans Day, on Thursday 11 November, honours everyone who served; Memorial Day remembers those who died in service. Veterans Day produces no long weekend in 2027. Thanksgiving 2027 dates fall on Thursday 25 November, which also breaks no weekend.
