School Holiday Dates for 2026 and 2027 Published for 17 Countries

In short: 140 dated school holiday entries across 17 countries, covering 2026 and 2027 — every row linked to the education authority that published it, and every unverified row labelled as such.

4 October 2026 — PublicHolidayCalendar.com has published school holiday and term dates for 17 countries, covering the 2026 and 2027 school years. The release contains 140 dated entries, each one linked to the ministry of education, state education department or municipal board that published it.

School holiday data is materially harder to publish responsibly than public holiday data. Public holidays are usually set by national legislation and change little from year to year. School terms are frequently set regionally — by state, province or even individual board — and are often not confirmed until months before the term begins. A single national answer is usually wrong.

How the data is handled

The dataset follows three rules, applied to every row:

  1. Source or nothing. Every dated entry carries a source link pointing at the official page it came from. Where no official source could be found, the country shows an honest callout instead of an estimate.
  2. Unverified is labelled, not hidden. Rows that have not been confirmed against a primary official page are marked Unconfirmed and carry a visible warning on the page. Readers can use them for rough planning and know not to book against them.
  3. Partial coverage is stated. Where only some regions or only one year is confirmed, the country is marked partial and the gap is described rather than filled in.

As the project’s own source policy puts it: Anything we could not source from an official channel is left blank rather than estimated.

Current coverage

Coverage is published with its confidence level attached. Verified means confirmed against a primary official source; partial means some regions or years are confirmed and the gaps are described; unverified means the dates are published for planning only and should not be booked against.

Where a country sets terms regionally — Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada — the published rows name the region they apply to, so a reader in New South Wales is not silently shown Victorian dates.

The temptation with school holiday data is to fill the gaps, because an empty table looks unfinished. We would rather publish a table that admits what it does not know.

Why this sits alongside the public holiday calendar

School holidays and public holidays drive two different kinds of demand, and planners routinely need both at once. A family booking travel needs to know when schools are out. An employer needs to know which days are non-working. Putting both on one country page removes the guesswork of stitching them together from four different websites.

Every country hub page now carries a School holidays section with year-by-year navigation, followed by the official sources used — see United Kingdom school holidays or Australia school holidays. Countries with no confirmed data display a callout explaining that it could not be officially verified, rather than an empty space or a fabricated table.

Coverage roadmap

Adding a country or a school year requires only new source-backed data — the rendering layer groups entries by year automatically. Countries with substantial travel demand and no confirmed official source are the next priority. Readers who can point to an official education-department page for a missing country are invited to send it in.
