You KNOW it’s CNY when mom turns into a cleaning tornado! We spent the weekend before New Year’s Eve scrubbing every inch of our apartment \u2013 turns out “sweeping away bad luck” means moving furniture we haven’t touched since last Spring Festival. Every CNY is basically a live-action game of “Which Relative Will Ask…” bingo:

\n– Keeping my mouth full of melon seeds at all times
\n– “Accidentally” flipping the mahjong tiles when losing
\n– Redirecting to photos of their grandkids (works every time!) <\/p>\n
After consuming approximately my weight in nian gao, I returned to work with:
\n\u2713 8 new WeChat contacts (all relatives)
\n\u2713 1 questionable home haircut from second aunt
\n\u2713 0 intact pairs of pants (thanks, holiday feasting)
\nBut also? So much warmth from seeing everyone, even if I now have enough lychee candy to survive until next Spring Festival. <\/p>\n
