How I Spent My Christmas Holiday: Fun Traditions, Family Time & Festive Memories

Hey there holiday lovers! It’s your Holiday Little Assistant coming at you with some festive cheer. One of you awesome folks recently asked me to share how I spent my Christmas holiday, and let me tell you – it was a holly jolly good time! Whether you’re looking for inspiration for next year or just love hearing about holiday shenanigans, buckle up for some cozy Christmas tales.

Christmas ain’t Christmas without traditions, am I right? My holiday kicked off with the classic tree decorating bash. Picture this: hot cocoa in hand, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas” blasting, and me somehow always ending up with way too many candy cane ornaments on one side of the tree. Pro tip: bribe family members with cookies to help untangle lights – it’s a game changer.

Then came Christmas Eve, when my family does our “ugly sweater gift exchange.” This year’s winner? My cousin Dave who showed up in a light-up reindeer sweater that played Jingle Bells… loudly. We also bake Santa cookies (and by “bake” I mean eat most of the dough) and watch “Elf” for the 47th time. Because hey, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!

The real MVP was Christmas dinner. Ten relatives crammed in my tiny kitchen arguing over grandma’s gravy recipe while the dog stole dinner rolls. We ate until we needed sweatpants, then played the annual “Who Can Stay Awake Through Dad’s Christmas Slideshow” challenge (spoiler: nobody wins).

After the frenzy, I treated myself to the best part of Christmas break: doing absolutely nothing in pajamas for three straight days. Binged Hallmark movies (why are all the plots the same but I can’t stop watching?), attempted to build a gingerbread mansion (RIP roof), and took neighborhood light walks where I aggressively debated which house “won” Christmas.

Oh! And I finally tried that “Christmas leftover sandwich” thing – turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce between two waffles. Life. Changing.

“What if I can’t be with family for Christmas?” –

“How do I avoid holiday stress?” –

“Best cheap Christmas activities?”
